His diligence and no nonsense approach to staff management means that he always achieves the best results possible for eventeem and for our clients, always reporting accurately and concisely with valuable recommendations for adaptation and improvement.

Having worked with Roger solidly for the past twelve months, we can safely say that he is one of the leading event managers currently working in experiential marketing and the live events arena.

We put some questions to Roger…

Roger, what are you up to when you are not working at events or on promotional activity?

I like writing and completed my first book in 2013 then had it published on Amazon. I also like to ride motorbikes and do regular track days plus the Isle of Man TT track. Keeping fit and healthy is also important to me so I frequent the gym and enjoy playing racket sports.

How did you get into the industry?

I started in the industry because I had just come back from working and living in the USA and wanted to do something with variety that was fun, engaging and involved working with people. My partner at the time suggested the events industry and 15 years later here I am.

What do you enjoy about working at events and on promotional campaigns and about being an event manager?

I love the variety, the independence and meeting people from all walks of life. In my time working on events I have met people ranging from film stars to people from the Royal family. Working with a good team of promotional staff is also great as it builds camaraderie and enhances your social life. I am I believe a people person and I am always very interested in listening to people’s stories and always open to learn from their experiences or teach from mine if need be.

What is your favourite type of event/campaign to work on and why?

I enjoy automotive campaigns as I am interested in cars and can speak with passion and conviction. I also like road shows and exhibitions as working with a group of promotional staff makes the event more social and is great for team building.

What has been your favourite/most memorable job to date?

In 2009 / 2010 I worked for a games company called Capcom. They had the exclusive rights to develop the Motogp console game so we promoted it at all the European Motogp motorcycle race tracks. So the job entailed traveling to 12 countries, event managing local promotional staff dressed as pit girls and encouraging people to play the Motogp game on all the consoles. So I had sun, sea, sand and motorbikes, it was amazing.

Finally, how do you find working for eventeem?

The people who work at eventeem are their biggest asset. They are friendly, professional and always on hand if you ever need to speak to them. Because I have worked in the industry for a long time I find that if you can get the right balance of mutual respect with the people you work with then they will move heaven and earth to please you. I find that the people at the eventeem respect and value their promotional staff and in return their staff are prepared to bend over backwards for them.
